Greetings! 

By way of introduction I am Spencer Slate and I seek to be your next State Representative for our District 120. The next few months will be prove to be some of the most challenging months in my life. Please take a few moments to find out more about me, and how together we can work towards a better community. 

Over the past few of years I have pondered and studied and thought many hours with close friends and family about my decision to run for the Florida House of Representatives.  As you can see I have decided to do so with the blessing and support of many of my fellow citizens here in District 120. 

We must elect leaders with a willingness to look at new ideas… I am pursuing this race because I believe that Florida and our District need the current trend of aggressive leadership in the next decade and beyond. If we have to tackle the educational, environmental, economic, growth, insurance costs, taxes and safety challenges that lay before us, then we must elect leaders with a willingness to look at new ideas. With your growing support I will be that leader. 

Strong core principles founded on years of experience… Over the years, having been raised in agriculture as a child and young adult, being a professional educator in Florida’s high school and junior college systems and owning a business for the past 28 years; I have established strong core principles founded on years of experience and leadership.  From that experience I am focused on the challenge as your legislator and with your help, support and guidance I am confident I can meet the challenge and make our District proud.

 I will be your watchdog in Tallahassee… Like many of you in this community, I own and operate an established business and know the perils that face us every day, month and year. Like you I’ve lived through hurricanes and the huge economic down turns they bring to our destination, I know what it takes to run a business, make payrolls and deal with the government to make you successful.  I will be your watchdog in Tallahassee to guard against our being legislated out of business, for businesses and community at large, while ensuring protection for our environment which makes our destination thrive and survive.

There is more to being a legislator than simply casting a vote... To be successful I have to address the issues we face, it also requires enthusiasm, energy and diplomacy.  It requires a person who is willing to be a role model and who will aggressively advocate for those who can’t advocate for themselves.  I believe that I am uniquely qualified to fill this role and I ask for your support.

I need your vote and your support…  A campaign requires dedicated volunteers and financing to be successful.  While money is not the only reason a good candidate wins, it is necessary that my word reaches every citizen in our District. Armed with my campaign information and goals, citizens can make an educated decision regarding who is best qualified for the job.  I feel I am the best choice for your State Representative.
